Selected product leadership — from medical missions to IoT healthcare to family caregiver engagement.
CrossCare
Problem: Orthopedic medical missions to remote parts of the world are hard to manage without an appropriate EMR. Clinicians need to track notes from intake through exam, interventions (including surgery), rounds, and long-term outcomes — with limited or zero internet access.
Who it's for: Medical missions, medical NGOs operating in conflict zones or developing countries with limited connectivity.
My role: Landed the business, recruited and hired the design and development team, managed P&L, co-led the product effort, conducted hardware and connectivity research, selected a hardware partner, and co-led the beta launch including hardware and connectivity setup.
Results: Designed, built, and deployed in five months. Surgical triaging time reduced by hours. More than 80 patients on day one. CrossCare (beta) became the model for BackpackEMR.
Smartvest Connect
Problem: Originally stated as proving usage of a medical therapy device (HFCWO) for chronic lung conditions. Reframed into creating value for patients, caregivers, and clinicians while solving a reimbursement business problem.
Who it's for: Adults and children with chronic lung diseases prescribed HFCWO therapy; respiratory physicians and therapists; internal teams managing payer reimbursement.
My role: Reframed the business problem into patient and clinician value creation. Led VOC discovery with clinicians, caregivers, and patients. Collaborated with design on functional requirements, managed development to on-time delivery, and helped frame beta program launch and training.
Results: Therapy adherence tracked for the first time. Estimated ~30% improvement in adherence. Overwhelming positive feedback from therapists and patients. Gamification validated as a driver of adherence. Competitive differentiation and sales demand spike.
SPARK App
Problem: Family caregivers are abruptly thrown into supporting senior loved ones — navigating clinical and financial needs, social isolation, and a complex hidden network of resources. Seniors often resist sharing wishes with family caregivers.
Who it's for: Adult children (40–60) and spouses supporting a senior loved one who needs support.
My role: Wrote hypotheses from public research and Lifespark Life Manager input. Validated with VOC research with family caregivers. Led design sprints, gained senior leadership buy-in, co-led the build with a technical lead, and planned operational readiness and training.
Results: Beta release July 2022. SPARK designed to support, encourage, and reduce stress for family caregivers.
